In the summer
in Palo Alto,
we got drunk and high
aimlessly
and went night swimming in
the neighbor’s pool
to cool off.
We smoked
and said daddy ironically
and learned the
freedom in buying
a vintage leather jacket.
We cruised
the neighborhood
at night feeling
the wind in our hair,
the Stones blaring.
I shared my last cigarette
with you
and made a wish.
It didn’t come true.
